The Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) process allows current middle and  high school students to demonstrate mastery of a course’s content, getting credit and a pass/fail grade for the course by taking an assessment and completing an artifact.

*Only applies to certain courses at middle school. Any parents or students who are interested in CDM should complete the CDM application and return it to the AIG Consultant at their school no later than January 25, 2016.

Upward Bound Math & Science: Currently Enrolling Rising 9th-11thGraders

The Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) Program at Fayetteville State University is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of UBMS is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in fields in math and science and to encourage them to pursue post-secondary degrees in science, technology, engineering and math. Upward Bound Math & Science is now accepting applications for student enrollment into the program. Students must be currently enrolled in the 9th-11th grades and attend the following schools in Cumberland and Robeson County to be eligible for the program:Douglas Byrd High School, Westover High School, and Lumberton High School.

FREE Services Offered

  • Academic instruction in math, research, English and science at Saturday Academy
  • Tutorial services
  • Exposure to a variety of colleges and universities
  • Mentoring programs
  • Workshops on study skills, math anxiety, note taking and test taking skills.
  • Exposure to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers
  • Assistance in completing college admissions and financial aid applications
  • Assistance in preparing for the SAT/ACT and/or PSAT/PLAN
  • Six-week summer research program

The Office of College Access Programs’ mission is to encourage and assist youth who are traditionally under-represented in post-secondary education with preparation for, entry into, and completion of a post –secondary education.  The Office of College Access Programs is comprised of federally funded programs that include Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound (Classic), Upward Bound Math & Science, AmeriCorps VISTA and 21st Century Community Learning Centers.  The office provides college preparatory services to students, parents, and educators in Cumberland, Hoke, and Robeson Counties.
