The SGA is comprised of students elected by their peers to represent the student body.  Members of the SGA act as liaisons between the student body and the school administration.  The members of the SGA participate in may activities at school and outside the school to promote Westover High School.

Westover High School has an excellent engineering department.  Engineering Academy students take a variety of classes before completing the program.  Our students have consistently placed in the top positions nationally with our student-built robot each year.  Engineering Academy students build the robot from scratch for competition each year.

Students interested in enrolling in the Westover High School Engineering Academy need to have a 2.5 GPA and complete an application.  Once enrolled in the Engineering Academy students must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA with a 3.0 GPA for all Academy classes.

Westover High School has an excellent health academy.  Students enrolled in the Health Academy take a variety of classes which prepare them to enter college to further pursue a career in the medical field.  In addition to these classes, health academy students complete internships at several area facilities. Students interested in enrolling in the Westover High School Health Academy need to have a 2.5 GPA and complete an application.  Once enrolled in the Health Academy students must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA with a 3.0 GPA for all Academy classes.

The annual staff is responsible for compiling the yearbook which is a compilation of memorabilia that represents the school year, the students, faculty, and staff as well the community each year.

Military-connected and civilian high school students establish and sustain a school-sponsored program to support students relocating to or from their school.

To build a robot in 6 weeks to meet game specifications and to promote STEM at our school and in the community.

The club design to help students study and develop math skills necessary for passing classes, standardized test, and competing at local mathematics competitions.

The North Carolina Advocates for Justice High School Mock Trial Program is operated by the Carolina Center for Civic Education.  As members of the Mock Trial Team students have the opportunity to study and learn the trial process for both criminal and civil trials.  Students then compete against other schools in mock trials in regions across the state until a statewide champion is named.

HOSA is a national student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health science, instructors, and students, to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership. The Academy of Health Sciences students are required to join HOSA for the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Freshman are encouraged to join HOSA. Students participate in district and state competition.

Westover High School is intentional in assisting students in meeting their goals socially and academically. WOHS “B.O.S.S.” Mentoring Program is perfect for at risk populations that may have trouble making positive choices. The mentoring program is exclusively for boys.  The vision of the group is to introduce the students to various topics that will help them make good choices as they navigate through their teenage years. Topics include positive friendships, conflict resolution, career exploration, and positive self-image, among others.  Considering the topics mentioned, we expect the participants to practice confidentiality; peers may share sensitive information that must be kept within the safe space of the sessions. Breach of confidentiality may be grounds for dismissal from the sessions for the rest of the school year.
